Is Holiday House Motel Las Vegas Closed?

Holiday House Motel on Las Vegas Blvd appears to be not open for business.  This is a small old motel roughly located across the street from the IHOP near Stratosphere.

The address of Holiday House Motel is 2211 S. Las Vegas Blvd Las Vegas NV 89104

I'm not posting their phone number, but it is easily found on a search.

I called, the phone rang endlessly, and there was no answer, no machine, just endless ringing.

The shades on the motel office are pulled down.  The signs on the doors made no reference to closing.  Yet the lot has been empty.  A few other locations nearby have definitely closed and are vacant, one of which is the nearby tuxedo shop.

SLS Las Vegas Construction

Las Vegas, Nevada.  SLS Hotel & Casino.  This used to be Sahara, a rather famous old place.  At one time not too long ago, I believe that a billion dollars went into renovating Sahara.  Sahara has since been closed and you can see right into the gutted main tower.

A new street sign has already been installed identifying SLS Way.  It used to say Sahara.

This location is at the southeast corner of Las Vegas Blvd and Sahara.  To the right of SLS/ex Sahara used to be Wet n Wild Water Park; not there any longer, although they have opened a location far from the Strip.

Directly opposite SLS/ex Sahara used to be El Rancho Las Vegas, (not to be confused with a different El Rancho that opened some years later on the other side of Las Vegas Blvd) which was destroyed by a fire in 1960.  That lot remains deserted to this day.

Gansevoort Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada.  The northeast corner of Las Vegas Blvd and Flamingo.  At one time that was the Barbary Coast.  Then it became Bill's Gamblin Hall & Saloon.  The renovation is to make it Gansevoort, although very recently they and Caesars have been in the news, and I am not certain if that name will stay as planned.

The windows at the upper left of photo is the Flamingo which some say is haunted by Benjamin Siegel.  A timely mention since Halloween is coming up soon.

Nine Fine Irishmen Construction

Las Vegas, Nevada.  NYNY Hotel.  The construction in front of NYNY, (Nine Fine Irishmen restaurant at left) makes the front of NYNY look even more like NYC than it did before.

NYNY Brooklyn Bridge Closed For Construction

Las Vegas, Nevada.  Construction is taking place at NYNY Hotel & Casino on Las Vegas Blvd at Tropicana.  The Brooklyn Bridge is closed, and pedestrians are shunted off to the gutter side where a temporary walkway is set up.

As will be shown in future posts, this renovation is occurring all around the front of NYNY both Strip side and Tropicana side.  That does mean that for the moment at least, the tugboats at the Statue of Liberty are gone.

Lady Luck Defunct In The Distance Still Listed On Travel Websites

Lady Luck, defunct, as photographed from a distance earlier in 2013.  It will reopen as The Downtown Grand.

I typed Lady Luck Las Vegas into Google, and was amused that there are a few travel sites which still offer Lady Luck as a hotel choice to book a room.  I am intentionally not identifying those travel websites, but if you search on Google as I did, you will find them.

Lady Luck shut down years ago and was gutted quite a while ago.  Yet there are travel websites which show it as having rooms from the $30 range with a few star rating.
